Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Steven Gardiner are the Bahamas’ track and field team headliners to this month’s (23 July to 8 August) Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Miller-Uibo’s inclusion for the 200/400 double came as a surprise because of comments she made leading up to the games scheduled for summer 2020 but was postponed to this month.
Miller-Uibo, according to information reach tracklalerts.com, was leaning towards running only the 200m in Tokyo but has apparently left the door open to defend her title.
“As much as I wanted a new title in the 200 metres, I also wanted to defend my Olympic one,” Miller-Uibo told The Times in March.

However, with a more competitive 200m field, including the likes of world champion Dina Asher-Smith, defending double sprint champion Elaine Thompson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson, several pundits ask questioning Miller-Uibo’s decision.
World 400m champion Salwa Eid Naser will also miss the games because of a doping suspension. Also, World leader Christine Mboma (48.54) and her Namibian teammate Beatrice Masilingi (49.53) will not participate in the Games.
Miller-Uibo season best is 49.08, which makes her the fastest this season, down to run the event in Tokyo.

Women’s 4x400m: Miller-Uibo, Strachan, Bethel, Doneisha Anderson, Megan Moss and Lacathera Cooper.

This story is in fact an example of inadequate journalism. why? because you did not do the research to confirm the 200/400 schedule for the 202[1] Olympics. while miller-uibo may want to run both, the schedule does not allow men or women to double and t&F fans know this – yet, you published this on 3 July 2021.
