The next IAAF World Championships, Doha 2019, will see several changes to its timetable.

The event will have only evening sessions – split into two – as one of the main changes. Races will be on a pink track.

Both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relays will have their first rounds as early as day two. The mixed 4x400m relay also be on the schedule.

The decathlon and heptathlon will be run concurrently, another first at this level.

Added to those will be the first-midnight marathon.

Talking about the revamped format, International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) president Sebastian Coe said, “We are looking forward to seeing how these firsts and the engagement format will come together next year to deliver a World Championships that will look and feel different.”
