MVP Track Club has reportedly suspended Jamaica’s World Championships 400m hurdles finalist, Janeive Russell for six weeks.
Russell, who would have resumed training last month, reportedly got the suspension following a confrontation with a teammate at the team house recently.
The 2012 World Junior 400m hurdles champion finished fifth in the final of the World Championships in Beijing this past summer. She ran a personal best 54.64 in the final.
President of the MVP Track Club, Bruce James, when contacted to confirm Russell’s suspension, would only say, “It’s an internal club matter and we are dealing with it as such.”
In recent weeks, Christine Day and Natasha Morrison, who were both asked to leave, along with Kaliese Spencer and Anniesha McLaughlin, are now training elsewhere.
Information reaching Trackalerts.com is that Russell may very well be on her way to a new training base.
Jamaicans Nikita Tracey and Danielle Dowie, along with T&T's Sparkle McKnight are the female 400m hurdlers still at the club.
