EUGENE, USA – Oregonlive informs that the planned renovation of Hayward Field has been delayed according to multiple sources.

The project now is expected to begin next summer and sources say the renovation is expected to take more than a year and not be complete until some point in 2020.

The stadium is expected to be closed during renovation, which sources say could force the 2019 Prefontaine Classic, the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships and the 2019 OSAA Track & Field Championships to relocate.

Eugene received the bid with the proviso the stadium be modernized and its capacity expanded to 30,000 permanent and temporary seats.

No matter where it is held, the 2019 Pre Classic is expected to move from late May to late July or early August because of changes in the international schedule writes oregonlive.
