LAGOS, Nigeria – President of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has said he has been tasked with re-building the sport in his country from scratch, informs the Guardian Nigeria.
”We know where Nigerian athletics used to be, but we lost it. Now, we are doing everything possible to put it back. Part of my acceptance speech, when I took over was to go to the grassroots.
“And very soon, Nigerians will see a brand new Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and best athletics the world will be proud of,” he said.
Gusau has been at the helm of the federation since 13 June.
