Several Caribbean athletes will be in action at this week’s NCAA Division 1 Outdoor East and West Preliminaries, starting Wednesday (26 May).

Damion Thomas, Kiara Grant and Joella Lloyd will headline the Caribbean athletes at the East Preliminary.

Yanique Dayle, Kayla Bonnick and Shian Hyde, like Grant and Lloyd, will run the sprints.

The top three from each of the six heats plus the next six best times will advance to the quarterfinals. The top 3 from each quarterfinal plus the next best three times to Eugene for the Nationals.

Clayton Brown and Owayne Owens will be in action in the field.

Sidney Marshall, Andrenette Knight and Trishauna Hemmings are in the sprint hurdles. Rasheem Brown will also run the 110m hurdles.

West Preliminary

Ackera Nugent, Kemba Nelson and Kevona Davis are the big names down to compete in West Preliminary at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Nugent will run the 100m and 100m hurdles.
Nelson and Davis are down for the 100m. Davis is not in the women’s 100m.

Kavia Francis is in the 200m and 400m. Stacey Ann Williams and Charokee Young will run the 400m.

Daszay Freeman will run the 100m hurdles while O’Brien Wasome will line up in the Men long.

Also down to compete Tyra Gittens, Lamara Distin, Xavier Nairne, Ivan Henry and Sean Bailey.
