Dr. Warren Blake could be challenged by his senior assistant, Dave Myrie, for presidency of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) at November’s elections.
Myrie, the principal at Kingston College (KC), according to Trackalerts.com sources, will form a team to take over the management of Jamaica’s track and field.
Myrie is also a director at Racers Track Club.
Michael Frater, the third vice president of the JAAA, himself also a Racers man, it is understood could go with Myrie.
Banker, Leon Mitchell’s name was also mentioned.
Blake, at the last elections in 2012, won his first mandate. He led the association for two years earlier after the death of Howard Aris.
Ian Forbes, the association’s second vice president, who won his position from the opposite slate in 2012, according to our source, will stay with Blake’s team.
Garth Gayle, considered by many as the key man, will stay with Blake’s team as general secretary. Marie Tavares, the assistant secretary, is also sticking with Dr. Blake.
Nomination date is about 21 days before the November 29 elections.
To be eligible to vote, delegates have up to this month end, September 30, to pay outstanding dues.
