An Inspiration to All: Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's Legacy in Sprinting

The organizers of the highly-anticipated FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix have just announced that several more big names in athletics will join legendary sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce for the event to be held on April 29 at the National Stadium in Gaborone.

The event has already sold out all of its grandstand tickets, with 15,000 spectators expected to attend the second-ever Golden Meet in Africa after Nairobi. The latest announcement includes Nigerian World and Olympic medalist Ese Brume, who will be the long jump star, Kenyan 800m specialist, and Eugene bronze winner Mary Moraa, who is confirmed for the 400m.

In the men’s events, fans can expect to see a showdown between African 100m record holder Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala, US World medalist Marvin Bracy (yet to open the season), and 200m specialist Kenny Bednarek.

Kirani James vs Isaac Makwala in men’s 400m

And in the 400m, local star Isaac Makwala will have his main home race in the farewell season against the legendary Kirani James, who will be making his season opener. Additionally, US athletes Clayton Murphy, an Olympic medalist, and Trevor Bassitt, a World medalist, will be competing in the 800m and 400m hurdles events, respectively.

With such an impressive lineup of top athletes, the FNB Botswana Golden Grand Prix promises to be an unforgettable event for athletics fans across the world.
