Bahamian superstar Shaunae Miller-Uibo was in record-breaking form on Sunday (31 Jan) at the American Track League second meet in Arkansas, USA.
In an impressive season-opener display, Miller-Uibo covered her opponent, American Shamier Little, very early and moved into the lead of the 200m. She had a clear advantage coming on the final curve and powered away cross the line in 22.40 seconds.
The time is a new Bahamian record, beating Pauline Davis-Thompson’s 22.68 at World Indoors in Barcelona, Spain in 1995. Miller-Uibo’s time is also the fastest in the world for 2021.
Little, the only other competitor in the race finished in 23.40.
“It’s always a great feeling to be back competing,” Miller-Uibo said after the one-lap indoor event.
She continued by saying “so happy with my performance! Thank you @americantrackleague for putting together such a great track meet.”
“It’s back to training now, but I’ve got one more race indoors before I close it up,” ended her statement on her social media page.
