To close the Rio Trials Day III (July 2) at the National Stadium, the Men’s 110m hurdles, saw the world leader, Omar McLeod, fighting off a valiant challenge from Deuce Carter, to win in a time of 13.01 sec.

Carter, who fought hard, falling behind in the latter stages, finishing in a time of 13.21 sec, will be onto his first Olympic Games.

McLeod, the World Indoor 60m hurdles champion, said he is pleased with the time. “I am consistently running 13.0s, so that’s a good sign, so I am hoping to do a big drop come Rio“

“I’m really impressive with how I’m finishing. I’m feeling really strong coming off the sixth hurdle, so we just need to go back to the drawing broad and start to work on my start now, because I haven’t done any start work yet.
“…And when I put those two together, then greatness awaits,” McLeod, the former Manchester and Kingston College (KC) student promised.

Third place went to Andrew Riley, in a season’s best time of 13.49 and fourth to Tyler Mason, in 13.56.

The JAAA selection committee has the right to include any athlete who is injured providing that he/she received medical exemption and can prove their fitness by the selection deadline.

This may be the case as it relates to current world number 3 Hansle Parchment, who is said to be injured.
