LUBBOCK, Texas — Julien Alfred of the University of Texas has set a new meet record in the women’s 60m final at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, running faster than every Jamaican except for Merlene Ottey.
Alfred crossed the finish line with a time of 6.97, earning 10 points for her team and showcasing her impressive speed and skills.

Rosemary Chukwuma of Texas Tech finished second with a time of 7.17, barely edging out Ezinne Abba of Texas, who also finished with a time of 7.17 but was awarded third place due to a difference of milliseconds. Kennedy Blackmon of the University of Oklahoma took fourth place with a time of 7.22, while Iyana Gray of Texas Christian University earned fifth place with a time of 7.30.
Lanae Thomas of the University of Texas earned sixth place with a time of 7.31, and Kevona Davis of Texas Christian University came in seventh with 7.33. How to watch the Big 12 Indoor Championships?
Alfred’s impressive performance in the women’s 60m final helped propel the University of Texas to a strong showing at the Big 12 Championships. With her record-breaking run and the solid performances of her teammates, Texas proved to be a force to be reckoned with in the track and field competition.
In the men’s 60m final at the competition, Terrence Jones of Texas Tech won with an impressive time of 6.48, setting a new meet record and earning 10 points for his team. Don’dre Swint, also of Texas Tech, finished second with a time of 6.57, earning 8 points, while Caleb Dean, also of Texas Tech, finished third with a time of 6.58 and earning 6 points for his team.
