MANHATTAN – Barbadian 2014 World junior champion Akela Jones attacked the collegiate record (4678 points) and scored excellent national record 4643 in pentathlon.
Jones, at the DeLoss Doods Invitational, recorded marks of 8.25 hurdles, 1.85m high jump, 12.99m shot put, 6.64m to equal national record in long jump and 2:25.63 indoor PB in the 800m. Her final score is also CAC indoor record.
Meanwhile, over in Lexington, good long jumping during first day of Rod McCravy Invitational for Marquise Goodwin, who achieved 7.99m and Sha´keela Saunders 6.53m
In Joplin, 22 years old NCAA II sprinter Jeff Fraley bettered his best in the heats of Southern Invitational over 60m to 6.65.
In Allendale, The 2014 NCAA steeple champion Leah O´Connor clocked at Mike Lints Open new 3000m life-time best 8:59.44.
