NASSAU, Bahamas – Jamaican sprinters Usain Bolt and Elaine Thompson are among leading contenders for the 3rd Annual Caribbean Sports Journalists’ Association (CASJA) Sports Awards.

Nominees for the Caribbean Sports Journalists’ Association (CASJA) Awards 2016 were revealed on Friday, with Jamaicans featuring in all categories.

There are 48 nominees in eight categories including the Jamaican Olympic triple gold medallist and Thompson who secured the sprint double at the Rio Olympic Games in August.

The list of nominees comes from the Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago and spans Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Paralympics and Swimming.

The eight categories are Sportsman of the Year; Sportswoman of the Year; Junior Sportsman of the Year; Junior Sportswoman of the Year; Team of the Year (Male); Team of the Year (Female); Rising Star of the Year (Male) and Rising Star of the Year (Female).

The winners will be announced on Friday November 18.
