A very effervescent athlete, especially in post victory celebrations, Sally who has been battling injuries for the last few years, including a few in competition misfortunes is heading back to top form with a season best of 12.74 last month.

In her early career, she chose the two short sprints as well as her core event for national representation but her top award came at the 2003 World Youths where she won the 100mh in 13.42. She was set to be a strong contender to defend her gold medal title she won at the London 2012 Olympics, but during a hard training session she slightly tore her hamstring forcing her out of the Rio 2016 Games.

In November 2011 the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) awarded her as the 2011 Female Athlete of the Year. She is the first Australian to receive this award.In October 2014, she was named 2014’s most inspirational Australian athlete.
