KINGSTON, Jamaica — National record holder Janeek Brown and former world champion Danielle Williams both advanced to tonight’s women’s 100m hurdles final at the 2019 Jamaica Trials here at the National Stadium on Sunday.
Brown, the NCAA champion while representing the University of Arkansas earlier this month, posted an impressive 12.68 seconds to win semi-final heat one.
The 21-year-old, who owns the national record with a sizzling 12.40 seconds world-leading time, easily advanced ahead of Yanique Thompson of Sprintec who clocked a seasonal best time of 12.80 seconds to take her place in the final as well.
Megan Tapper of MVP ran 12.95 for third place in the heat and Shimayra Williams of Pelican Track grabbed fourth in 13.15.
The second semi-final was won by 2015 world champion Danielle Williams, who froze the clock at 12.81 seconds.
Amoi Brown of Mvp ran 13.23 for second place, Shermaine William finished third with 13.44 and U.S. base hurdler Jeanine Williams from Georgia Tech ran home fourth in 13.55 to also qualify for tonight’s final.
Ayesha Champagnie, who ran 14.33 for fifth in the first semi-final, was the athlete missing out from the nine starters.
