Jamaica, the Caribbean leader in the medal table after four days of competition, ended in the number one qualifying spot after the preliminary round of the women’s 4x400m relay, during the early session of Day V, at the World Under-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

They came up with a world under-20 leading time of 3:33.18. They were the sole Caribbean nation to face the starters.

In men action, along with Trinidad and Tobago, the Jamaicans advanced to the final with a 3rd place in heat 1 in a season best, 3:08.80 to the Soca boys, 3:08.91 which assured a 5th position.

The advancing group leader, was the Botswana team, who took the heat in a fast 3:03.75 – a world under-20 leading time.

The finals of both events will form the curtain closer to the championships on Sunday, Day VI.
