Michelle-Lee Ahye and Kemar Hyman were the fastest Caribbean athletes from Friday's opening session of the NACAC Senior Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Ahye of Trinidad & Tobago ran 10.98 (2.3m/s wind) to lead the qualifiers going into the final.
Samantha Henry-Robinson of Jamaica 11.01, USA’s pair of Barbara Pierre 11.08 and Charonda Williams 11.06, Tahesia Harrigan-Scott of BVI 11.21, Reyare Thomas of T&T 11.25, Laverne Jones-Ferrette of USVI 11.31 and Celiangeli Morales of Puerto Rico 11.45, will join Ahye in the final.
Cayman Islands’ Kemar Hyman, in the men’s 100m semi-finals, ran 9.85secs to lead the qualifiers into the final. Jason Rodgers of St. Kitts and Nevis also went under 10 seconds with 9.98secs
The wind reading was 3.0m/s wind.
In semi-final 1, Ramon Gittens of Barbados won in 10.01 ahead of Jamaica’s Sheldon Mitchell 10.09.
Jason Livermore of Jamaica is also in the final with 10.01.
Earlier in the prelims, Hyman was the fastest with 10.05 (2.2m/s wind), Livermore 10.07 (1.9m/s) and Gittens 10.07 (4.4m/s).
Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad & Tobago leads the qualifiers in the men’s 400m dash with 44.64.
Jamaica’s Ricardo Chambers is the 3rd fastest with 44.93.
Alonzo Russell of Bahamas (45.65) is also in the final.
In the women’s 400m, Bobby-Gaye Wilkins-Gooden of Jamaica (51.79), Sade Sealy of Barbados (53.19), Kineke Alexander of St. Vincent and The Grenadines (52.32) and Christine Amertil of Barbados (52.32).
Barbados’ pair of Kierre Beckles 13.01 and Akela Jones 13.09, Trinidad & Tobago’s Deborah John 13.38 and Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton 13.31 is also in the final.
Mikel Thomas of Trinidad and Tobago is the fastest in the men’s 110m hurdles heats with 13.43secs.
Eddie Lovett of US Virgin Islands 13.46, Tyler Mason of Jamaica 13.46, Deuce Carter of Jamaica 13.49 and Greggmar Swift of Barbados 13.52 are also in the final.
