Barbadian Shanice Hutson beat Jamaica’s Cheyanne Fearon for Sunday morning’s only gold medal on offer at the 2018 Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas.

Hutson threw 41.56m to take the U17 girls’ discus title over Fearon, the silver medal winner with 34.57m. Treneese Hamilton of Dominica was the bronze medallist with 33.58.

In the U20 boys’ 400m hurdles, Rovane Williams, pictured on the front page, qualified with the fastest time of 51.23, while his Jamaican teammate Malik James-King was DQ’ed, IAAF rule 168.7(a).

Kimar Farquharson of Jamaica leads the qualifiers in the U20 boys’ 800m with 1:52.86. Tafari Bishop of Barbados, 1:53.22 and Ken Reyes of Turks, 1:53.33 are the best best qualifiers.

Jamaica continues to lead the medals’ table with 11 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze ahead of Bahamas 4 gold, 7 silver, 1 bronze and Trinidad and Tobago 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.
