Asafa Powell to run at Meeting de Paris

Zharnel Hughes was the men’s 100m dash winner at the GC Foster Classics on Saturday (16 March).

Hughes, running against a negative 1.3m/s headwind, stopped the clock in 10.20 seconds. UWI’s Emmanuel Archibald, the heat 10 winner, was second overall.

Asafa Powell won heat 2 in 10.35 (-1.1m/s wind) for 3rd overall.

Other top names in the field were Nesta Carter (10.35), Andrew Fisher (10.36), Oshane Bailey (10.39), Demish Gaye (10.48) and Michael O’Hara 10.54).

Shericka Jackson ran a wind-aided 11.03 seconds to beat Shashalee Forbes, 11.10, Natasha Morrison, 11.23 and Stephenie McPherson, 11.30.

Gayon Evans11.32, Anastasia Le-Roy, 11.33 and Sharon Simpson, 11.35, rounded off the top seven finishers.

In the women’s 400m, Roneisha McGregor of Athletics Academy, 52.42, beat Janieve Russell of MVP, 52.46.

Shiann Salmon of GC Foster College, winner of heat 1, was third overall in 52.78.

Ricardo Cunningham of Vision Track Club was the fastest quarter-miler on the day with 52.28 to beat Owayne Russell, 53.42.
