Vere Technical’s Marie Forbes was in record breaking form on Friday’s penultimate day (23 March) of the 2018 Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Forbes’ gold medal throw of 46.69m erased the old mark of 46.64, set back in 2012 by Holmwood Technical’s Gleneve Grange.

“It was very easy because the competition wasn’t difficult,” Forbes said while adding “I wanted to throw a big mark though.”

Aliesha Shaw (Rusea’s) was 2nd with 40.96m while Kimberly Lu of Excelsior threw 40.13m to take bronze.

Pavell Lawrence of Calabar took the top position in the Class 3 boys’ long jump with 6.34m, the same mark as second place Womler’s Nando Meggs.

Torian Cave handed Ardenne its first gold medal of Champs 2018 with a 1.58m clearance in the Class 4 girls’ high jump.
