BUJA, Nigeria – Following recent PBs of 10.93 and 21.96 seconds for 100 meters and 200 meters, to go with her 51.49 at 400 meters, 19-year-old Nigerian Favour Ofili is resisting specialization too soon.

She told World Athletics: “For now I don’t have a permanent event. I see myself achieving the speed for the shorter sprint events because that’s what we (my coach and I) started focusing on from the indoors so we just have to maintain it and keep it going.”
Of comparisons to Allyson Felix, she added: “Allyson Felix is someone most athletes look up to because she is the most decorated US track and field Olympian. But I don’t see myself as ‘the next’ anyone; I see myself as me, Favour Chukwuka Ofili.”
