Edwin Allen wins 4x1 at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Edwin Allen produced another stunning performance to win the High School Girls’ 4×100 Championship of America title at Pen Relays on Friday (29 April).

The team, led off by Serena Cole and including Tina Clayton, Brandy Hall and Tia Clayton, set a new Penn Relays record of 43.18 for their 7th straight and 8th overall victory.

The previous mark 43.62, also held by Edwin Allen, was established by the quartet of Cole, Kevona Davis, Tina and Tia Clayton in 2019.

Tia Clayton said they went out “and did what was expected of them, to set a new record.”
Cole said, despite the weather, “we came out and did our best.”

Hall said they will now leave Penn Relays feeling “good, especially since this is my last year. “It is a great feeling to come out here and do what we did and make our school and fans proud.”

Tina said, “We knew other teams have good athletes, and it was going to be very competitive, but I knew my team worked very hard and was very focused. I think winning this title means a lot to us, our supporters, family and coaches who are always there with us.”

Hydel with Alana Reid, Brianna Lyston, Kerrica Hill and Oneka Wilson finished second in 43.69.

St. Jago took third place with Makada Linton, Shenese Walker, Abigail Martin and Breanna Clarke in 46.09.
