DOHA – Shericka Jackson and Christine Mboma will renew their rivalry at next month’s Doha Diamond League.
In three meetings, minus the Tokyo Games in 2021, Jackson lost all three clashes with Mboma. Jackson ran 21.95 to Mboma’s 21.84 in Bruxelles, 21.81 to 21.78 in Zurich and 22.30 to 22.04 in Zagreb.
Jackson, the Olympic Games 100m bronze medallist, has a personal best over 200m is 21.81. Mboma, who won the silver in the Tokyo Olympic Games 200m final, has a personal best of 21.78.
However, world and European champion Dina Asher-Smith is expected to start as the favourite.
Gabrielle Thomas, the bronze medal winner in Tokyo, is also listed to compete in the event.
“I won my first global title in Doha in 2019, so I have incredibly happy memories of competing there,” said the 26-year-old Asher-Smith. She clocked a quick 36.41 over 300m on 16 April.
“After a challenging year last year, I can’t wait to get back on the circuit and see what I can do this summer,” she said according to the Gulf Times.
