SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico’s Javier Culson, two-time 400m hurdles World Champion and 2012 Olympic medalist, has been named ambassador of the 2nd North, Central, American and Caribbean (NACAC) Athletics Championships, to be held at San Jose, Costa Rica, August 7-9.
The Puerto Rican athlete will join local star Nery Brenes, the 2012 World Indoor 400m champion, who will also take the NACAC event in preparation for the global competition in the Chinese capital.
The 2nd NACAC Championships expects the participation of all 31 area members. The USA is expected to send the largest delegation with 88 athletes.
The winners could automatically qualify to the World Championships in Beijing with the provision they must be selected by their national federation.
