Christopher Taylor and Christania Williams were the best-placed Jamaicans at Sunday’s (24 Jan) American Track League in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Jamaican Christania Williams narrowly missed winning the women’s 60m. She ran 7.18, just losing out to Blessing Okagbare 7.17.

Jamaica again missed out on the top spot in the men’s event. Andre Ewers was the best placed with 6.67 for third while Omar McLeod, 6.70, ended 6th. American Trayvon Bromell won the event in 6.48 ahead of Nigerian Divine Oduduru, 6.65.

American Fred Kerley beat Jamaican Christopher Taylor in the men’s 400m. Kerley, who led from the start, was challenged by Taylor after 200m, but the American pulled away in the last 100m to win easily in 45.03. Taylor finished in 45.73 while heat one winner Travean Caldwell got third with 46.25.

In the women’s 400m, Quanera Hayes ran away the victor in 51.76 over her American compatriot Shamier Little, 52.63, and Wadaline Jonathas, 53.10

Trinidad and Tobago’s Sparkle McKnight finished 5th in 55.13.

World champion Grant Holloway clocked super-fast 7.35 to equal his own US record from March 2019 in the men’s 60m hurdles. Only two hurdlers were faster in the indoor history.

American Michael Dickson, 7.54, and Trinidad and Tobago’s Ruebin Walters, 7.65 were the next best finishers.
Holloway’s time was 7.38 in heats.

Jamaican Brittany Anderson finished 4th in a highly competitive women’s 60m hurdles. Anderson ran 8.06 in the event, which had Tonea Marshall winning in a world-leading 7.86.

American Christina Clemons with 7.88 and Tiffany Porter, 7.89, were the runners-up.

Gabby Thomas won the 300 m in 7th all-time fastest mark 35.92. In her race, she was followed by Shakima Wimbley 36.78 and Kyra Jefferson 36.97.

In the first race, Jenna Prandini ran 36.68, and in another section hurdles, WR holder Keni Harrison 36.83 PB.
