NASSAU, Bahamas – On this eighth occasion of hosting the CARIFTA Games track and field championship we are once again excited to partner with the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletics Associations (NACAC). For the first time, we welcome our title sponsor Flow. For the third consecutive year Flow has partnered with NACAC to host the CARIFTA Games. As the official broadcast partner of this event the CARIFTA Games will receive substantive viewership across the region. It is partnerships such as these that allow us to display the spirit and power of athletics to bring together people, cultures and nations.

It is with great pleasure that we pay tribute to a man who has contributed to Bahamian track and field and made significant contributions internationally as an advocate for small countries such as ours. These 47th CARIFTA Games will be held in honour of the Late Dr. Bernard Nottage (BJ). CEO of the CARIFTA Games, Rosamunde Carey, said “It was an easy sell as Nottage is heralded in the region for his indelible prints on the growth of our sport in The Bahamas, the region and indeed the world”, I wish also to note that the Organizing Committee of the Games is undertaking steps to re-establish the CARIFTA Ball which was first organized under BJ during his tenure as president of the Bahamas Association of Athletics Associations (BAAA). We acknowledge and express our gratitude to the widow of Dr. Nottage, Portia, who has agreed to work with the CARIFTA Ball organizing committee.

The Games is set to be held over the Easter holiday, March 30th to April 2nd, 2018 under the theme Faster, Further, Higher. The theme captures the essence of our expectation, as we anticipate phenomenal performances from a high caliber of athletes from the Bahamas and around the region “.

“The rivalry we saw in Curacao in the pole vault is expected to be an exhilarating faceoff again. Our own Meghan Moss will defend her 400m title”, cited President Carey. The Bahamas is expected to do all in its power to unseat our arch rivals Jamaica for the championship title and ward off Trinidad, Barbados and the rest of the Caribbean – all of whom are expected to be very competitive.

CARIFTA track and field has become a staple in the hearts of all Bahamians and 2018 promises to be another highly anticipated event. Ticket are currently on-sale. Gold tickets for $20.00, Silver tickets for 15.00, Bronze tickets for 10.00 and General tickets for $5.00. Early bird ticket discounts are also available. To purchase or reserve your tickets an email to [email protected] or call/WhatsApp us at (242) 427-2580. For more information log on to cariftabahamas2018.com.

The Event will host 26 countries, 500 athletes, 400 volunteers and some 150 local and international officials. We look forward to three exciting days of competition, the local shows and entertainment in our Festive Market and the sounds of the CARIFTA Congoes. The Ball this year promises to be a night of fine dining, good music and good entertainment.
