Calabar repeated as High School Boys’ 4×100 Championship of America champions at  Penn Relays on Saturday (28 April).

Although four tenths off the 39.00 that saw them break the Penn Relays record in 2017, Rosean Young, Christopher Taylor, Tyreke Wilson and Dejour Russell’s time of 39.51secs, stands as the second fastest of all time for the meet.

Kingston College came in second running 40.13, with Jamaica College coming in 40.47 for bronze.

The bulk of the damage came from Jamaica’s high school National 100 meter champion Wilson, on the third leg as he faced off against friendly rival KC’s Jhevaughn Matherson, giving fans a taste of what they were deprived of during Champs in the open 100m final.

After getting the better of him, Wilson proceeded to have a near perfect exchange with sprint hurdle star Russell, who powered home for the win.

Five Jamaican schools ran times faster than 41 seconds, with Papine (40.86) and St. Jago (40.88) rounding out the top five.

St. Elizabeth Tech and Rusea’s failed to finish the race
