Clayton Brown garnered SEC Co-Field Athlete of the Week honors as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon (27 March).
Brown posted the nation-leading triple jump mark at last weekend’s Florida State Relays. The Jamaican broke his personal record by nearly 30 centimeters, bounding all the way to 16.40 meters (53 feet, 9.75 inches). That elevated him to No. 7 on the program’s All-Time Outdoor Top 10.
No other triple jumper in the nation has eclipsed 15.86 meters (52 feet, 0.5 inches) this season.
Brown is the sixth Gator since 2010 to wind-legally triple jump at least 16.40 meters. Only Texas A&M (4) boasts more than two such triple jumpers during that span.
Brown and the Gators continue their outdoor season Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as they host the Pepsi Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium.
