Briana Williams set a new Jamaica junior record on Sunday (30 May) when she won the JAC Summer Open in Jacksonville, Florida.
Williams, representing Born 2 Do It Track Club, dashed to 11.01 seconds for a massive win. She finished way ahead of Toea Wisil of PNG NSI, 11.71. The wind reading was +1.4m/s.
The new mark lowered her previous Jamaican record of 11.02 set back in 2019. Veronica Campbell-Brown had the Jamaica junior record of 11.12secs up to 2019.
Williams ran 11.10 on 1 June 2019 and 11.02 the following week. In between, Kiara Grant ran 11.04 on 8 June 2019
Earlier in the prelims, Williams, who is 19 years old, ran 11.19, supported by a +2.0m/s wind.
Wisil returned with 24.14 to take the women’s 200m ahead of Zuriel Reed, 24.36.
Emmanuel Dasor won the men’s 100m in 10.51 ahead of Audrey Bryant, 10.81.
Zoe Whaley won the women’s high jump after clearing 1.72m.
