The boys 100m Under-18 final will be re-run here at the 43rd Carifta Games on Sunday morning at 8:50.

Jamaica’s Raheem Chambers, who was favoured to take the title, finished third in 10.49secs, behind his teammate Waseem Williams, who won in 10.36.

However, immediately after the race, Chambers said to this reporter, who was at the finish line, “I heard two guns…what is going to happen,” he asked with a disappointed look on his face.

Trinidad and Tobago Adell Colttrust, who was 4th in 10.57, also complained about hearing two guns.

Jonielle Smith and Jevaughn Minzie, Jamaica’s team captains, both said, they too heard more than one guns. Smith asked, “they are going to run over the Under-18 boys 100m final?”
However, just after 8pm, it was confirmed that more than one shots were indeed fired from the starter’s gun, but the athletes proceeded to the final line.

Chambers had said, “I stopped, but realized the field was still running so I made my move again.”
