The INIT Indoor Meeting in Karlsruhe, Germany is set to feature a star-studded line-up on Friday (26 Jan), as the first World Indoor Tour Gold event of the season gets underway.

The 60m race will see world indoor champion Mujinga Kambundji take on top competitors such as Dina Asher-Smith, Marie-Josee Ta Lou, Ewa Swoboda, Daryll Neita, and Malaika Mihambo. The shot put event will feature a showdown between world indoor and outdoor champions Auriol Dongmo and Chase Ealey, as well as strong contenders Jessica Schilder, Sarah Mitton, Fanny Roos, and Danniel Thomas-Dodd.

The 60m hurdles will see world indoor silver medallist Pascal Martinot-Lagarde go up against world 110m hurdles bronze medallist Asier Martinez and Olympic finalist Aurel Manga. The triple jump event will feature European champion Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk competing against 14.93m jumper Liadagmis Povea and Worlds fourth-placer Leyanis Perez.

In the 3000m race, world indoor champion Lemlem Hailu, world 5000m bronze medallist Dawit Seyaum, and world 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Werkwuha Getachew will lead the pack against Luiza Gega. The 1500m race will feature Tedese Lemi, who placed fourth at the World Indoors last year, and Adel Mechaal.

The men’s 400m race will include the top two from the 2021 European indoors, Oscar Husillos and Liemarvin Bonevacia. The 800m race will see Jemma Reekie, the fastest runner in the field, compete against world indoor silver Freweyni Hailu and world finalist Anita Horvat.

In the vault, 6.00m jumper KC Lightfoot will face off against Menno Vloon and Thiago Braz. The women’s long jump event will feature Ivana Vuleta and in the men’s 3000m Abdisa Fayisa and Adisu Girma will compete against in-shape Elzan Bibic.
