Olympic champion Usain Bolt fights to recover $12 million from SSL

Attorneys for Usain Bolt have called for the return of $12 million that went missing from his account with Stocks and Securities Ltd. (SSL) by January 27, according to a letter sent to the Jamaican financial institution.

The letter states that Bolt’s account had a balance of $12,750,181.74 on October 31, 2022 but has now been depleted to $12,047.65 without any withdrawal or transfer made by Bolt.

“We are now frighteningly instructed that mysteriously our client’s said account has been depleted,” the attorney wrote. “If this is correct, and we are hoping it is not, then a serious act of fraud, larceny or a combination of both have been committed against our client.”

The attorney representing Bolt has stated in the letter that if the money is not returned within 10 days, legal action will be taken. SSL has reported fraudulent activity by a former employee and is being investigated by the Jamaica Financial Services Commission.

The FSC has also assumed temporary management of SSL.
