Dina Asher-Smith, the Briton, was quickest out of the blocks in terms of reaction time, with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce getting up alongside her after ten yards.

Dina Asher-Smith edged out Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the women’s 100m at Friday’s (6 Sept) Memorial Van Damme, Brussels Diamond League.

Both matched each other stride for stride, but Asher-Smith held on across the line in a season-best 10.88s.

Fraser-Pryce, who didn’t seem to get her customary fast start, finished second in 10.95.

Marie-Josée Ta Lou finished third in 11.09 and Dafne Schippers, fourth in 11.22. Blessing Okagbare ended fifth in 11.24.

“I can not be happy with this,” Ta Lou said.
“I hoped to run faster, but it was still ok, especially in this wheater. The good thing is that I was in the top 3,” added Ta Lou.

Schippers said: “I’m a bit disappointed today. I had a bad start and wasn’t able to get into the competition.”

“It’s painful for me that it wasn’t better because it felt really fast. It’s pointless to worry a lot about this; I have to keep working and believing it will get better,” she added.
