Britany Anderson was one of the shining lights over the weekend at Jamaica’s Carifta Games Trials at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Vere Technical’s Anderson, on Sunday’s final day of the two-day trials, ran a fast 13.21 to take the Under-18 girls’ 100m hurdles.
Daszay Freeman of Manchester High, 13.44 and Holmwood Technical’s Shanette Allison, 13.54, were second and third respectively.
In the Under-20 section, Amoi Brown took the top spot in 13.33 ahead of Janeek Brown of Wolmer’s, 13.52.
Calabar’s Orlando Bennett took victory in the Under-20 boys’ 110 hurdles. His time was 13.86 to beat Wolmer’s Alex Robinson, 13.90.
Sanique Walker, also of Vere, was the only one under one minute in the Under-18 girls’ 400m hurdles with a time of 58.06.
Nicolee Foster of Holmwood, 57.85 and Shiawn Salmon of Hydel, 57.89 battled to first and second respectively in the Under-20 girls’ 400m hurdles.
Dashinelle Dyer of STETHS was the winner of the Under-18 boys’ 400m hurdles in 51.84.
Tissanna Hickling of St. Jago won the Under-20 girls’ long jump with 6.23m
Kobe-Jordo Rhooms of Cornwall cleared 2.05 to take victory in the Under-20 boys’ high jump.
