Jamaica’s junior sprint hurdles star Ackera Nugent was in impressive form on the weekend (23 Jan) at the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas.

Ackera NugentNugent winning time of 8.08 seconds was just short of the meet record of 8.07 set by Kendell Williams of Georgia in 2017.

Only Brittany Anderson (8.02) and Shermaine Williams (8.07) ran fastest as Jamaican juniors.

Kaylah Robinson of Texas A&M, who recorded the fastest time of 8.16 in the heats, ran slower in the final with 8.26s.

In the prelims, Nugent qualified with 8.22, the second-fastest of the day.

The men’s 60m hurdles went to Connor Schulman of Texas A&M in 7.87 ahead of Bashiru Abdellahi of UTSA, 8.69 and Kirk Collins Jr of Texas A&M, 8.69.

Jania Martin of Texas A&M won the women’s 400m in 53.82 ahead of Baylor’s Lily Williams 55.04.

Baylor’s duo Christopher Dupree, 47.59, and Matthew Moorer, 47.83, were the top 400m male finishers.

Shane Smith of Texas A&M topped the women’s 60m dash in 7.39 ahead of her teammate Immanuela Aliu, 7.40.
TCU’s duo Jais Smith, 6.73, and TJ Brock Jr, 6.76, were the top male 60m finishers.
Laila Owens of Texas A&M ran 23.31 to win the women’s 200m and her schoolmate Lance Broome, 20.95 to take the men’s event.
