CLERMONT, USA – Former world 100 champion Tyson Gay won his men’s 100m heat at the weekend’s NTC Spring Invitational.
Gay won his heat in 10.28, the third fastest time of the prelims, behind Canadian Aaron Brown, 10.12 and Alonso Edward, 10.18s.
Jamaican Nickel Ashmeade also took part in the heats and ran 10.42.
Briton Tommy Ramdhan was the winner of the final in 10.25 ahead of Alex Wilson, 10.30secs.
Kyle Greaux of Trinidad and Tobago 20.22 was third in the men’s 200m, won by Ecuador’s Alex Quinonez in 20.14. Edward was third in 20.15.
In the women’s 200m, Shakima Wimbley posted 22.34 ahead of Joanna Atkins 22.62.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Kelly-Ann Baptist, 11.23 was third in the women’s 100m, won by Angela Tenorio of Ecuador in 11.15. Jamaican Shavine Hodges ran 11.33 for sixth and 23.39 for eight in the 200m.
Natoya Goule had the second best time, 53.12 in the women’s 400m, which was won by Italian Libania Grenot 52.54.
