Fraser-Pryce wins in 10.98, Blake dips under 10s at London DL

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Yohan Blake broke 11-secs and 10-secs barriers respectively on Saturday at the IAAF Diamond League meet in London.

Fraser-Pryce, who qualified for the final with 11.13secs, returned with 10.98secs to beat Dezerea Bryant of USA, 11.04.

Jonielle Smith improved on her 11.22secs first round time with a personal best 11.07 to take the third place in the final

Blake, twice on the day, broke the 10-sec barrier. He first ran 9.99 seconds behind Racers’ clubmate and Great Britain’s Zharnel Hughes, 9.97, then returned with 9.95 in the final, won by American Ronnie Baker, who ran 9.90 twice.

Hughes ran 9.93 for second in the final.

Jamaican Tyquendo Tracey, who broke the 10-sec barrier for the first time, 9.96 in the heats, came back to run 9.98 in the final.

In the men’s 400m, seven of nine runners dipped below 45 seconds, among them Kirani James, 44.50 for third and Nathon Allen, 44.72 for seventh. Adballeleh Haroun of Qatar won the event in 44.07secs.

Janieve Russell, in the women’s 400m hurdles, ran 53.96 for second behind American Shamier Little, 53.95. Ristananna Tracey was sixth in 56.07
