Jamaica’s captain Christopher Taylor and several of his teammates who participated at the recently held CARIFTA Games in the Bahamas will get their medals today (7 May).
These athletes, mostly relay runners, didn’t get their medals at the Easter weekend event.
CARIFTA Local Organizing Committee (LOC) CEO and BAAA President, Rosamunde Carey along with IAAF/NACAC Representative, Pauline Davis-Thompson are in Jamaica to distribute the medals.
According to the LOC release, they will ”continue to Trinidad and Tobago to distribute medals to the athletes who did not receive their medals at the recent 2018 CARIFTA Games.”
”It should also be noted that plans are being finalized for a similar medal presentation to Bahamian athletes this coming weekend. As for the two countries where a single medal is outstanding, subject to discussions with the Presidents from these countries, the medals will be couriered by express mail,” the release stated.
”The CARIFTA LOC expresses its gratitude to all who participated in the successful hosting of the 2018 CARIFTA Games and note the unfortunate circumstance regarding the medals distribution.”
