Jamaica Cross Country Trials on Wednesday

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) will be staging its Cross Country Trials on Wednesday, January 17.

According to a press release from the JAAA, the event will be staged at Manchester Golf Club, starting at 1pm.

The runners will be competing for spots on Jamaica’s team to the 2018 Pan Am Cross Country Cup to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador (February 16-17)

Victor Lopez, president of North America, Central America and Caribbean Track and Field Association, in an email message to federations a week ago, “encourage” them “to enter a delegation for this important competition.”

Jamaica, over the years, sent teams to Cross Country Championships in senior and junior categories.

“The IAAF is encouraging all countries to put emphasis in the development of Cross Country since the IOC is planning to add Cross Country as an event in future Olympic Games,” Lopez message read.
