The Prefontaine Classic 2023, used as the Eugene Diamond League Final, culminated in a showcase of athletic brilliance, where Armand Duplantis of Sweden and Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay shattered world records on the second day, elevating the event to historic proportions. Duplantis soared to a staggering 6.23m in the pole vault, while Tsegay clocked an unprecedented 14:00.21 in her event.

Adding to the Eugene Diamond League Final excitement, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica clinched both the 100m and 200m titles, recording times of 10.70 and 21.57, respectively. Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen also came away with a double, winning the Mile and the 3,000m with times of 3:43.73 and 7:23.63. The two-day Prefontaine Classic 2023 was not just about record-breaking performances; it also featured a multitude of world leads, area records, national records, personal bests, Diamond League records, and unexpected outcomes, underlining the depth and diversity of talent in the world of track and field.

    This years Prefontaine Classic produced two world records, several meet records and a bunch of personal beats.
    The meet was a resounding success at the best venue for runners in the country.
    Your comment begs the question, did you even watch the meet?
    Yes it was end of season but the quality of national and international talent has never been as high.

  • One or two good performances but overall a rather flat and not very well supported event. Many athletes just looked worn out-good athletes know the key events and one at Eugene is not one of them
