Jamaica’s rising star Tina Clayton was named Athletics Weekly Junior Female Athlete of the Year 2022.

Clayton, in August, defended her World Junior 100m title in Cali, Columbia. She set a new championship record of 10.95 to take her second title at this level.
The former Edwin Allen student, who turned professional, also helped Jamaica to gold in the women’s 4x100m. Team Jamaica won 4x100m in a world U20 record of 42.59.
Clayton also won double Carifta Games gold, 100m and 4x100m.
American Erriyon Knighton got the junior male athlete of the year award. He won bronze in the 200m at the World U20 Championships. He also ran 19.49, the fifth fastest time of all time.
Meanwhile, World champions and world record-breakers Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Mondo Duplantis were named Athletics Weekly Athletes of the Year.
