According to reports, Edwin Allen sprint twins Tina and Tia Clayton are turning pro and will likely join Stephen Francis at MVP Track Club.

Francis is one of Nike’s professional coaches, and such a move seems likely if the pair are moving closer to a deal with the sports giant. Edwin Allen High, the school Tina Clayton and Tia Clayton have represented for more than five years, is also sponsored by Nike.

Edwin Allen is now the only school in Jamaica sponsored by the brand. Adidas recently took over Holmwood Tech, while Kingston College (KC) moved to Puma a few years ago.

In an interview during the Jamaica trials, World U20 champion Tina Clayton uttered: “no college” to a journalist. This after she ran a Jamaica junior record 10.96 to win the Under-20 women’s 100-meter final. Tia Clayton finished third in the event with a personal-best 11.25 seconds. Serena Cole, the twins’ teammate at Edwin Allen, was second in 11.11.

Briana Williams, who also went professional after high school, held the previous junior 100-meter record of 10.97 seconds.
