Sha’Carri Richardson clocked a strong 10.92 to finish second behind Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah at the recent Prefontaine Classic at Hayward Field in Eugene, venue of this month’s Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and host to the World Athletics Championships in July. The former LSU Tiger became the fourth-fastest American woman in history when setting her lifetime best of 10.72 last summer and will bid for her first senior international Team USA vest later this month.
Jamaican Briana Williams, who finished eighth in the field with Sha’Carri Richardson at Prefontaine Classic last month, is in a better shape for the rematch. Briana Williams is coming off a personal best of 10.97 at the SDF/JAAA Jubilee Series in Kingston on the weekend (4 June).

• 2021 NCAA champion and Olympic 800 meters semi-finalist Isaiah Jewett will line up against 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Clayton Murphy and 2022 World Indoor Championships bronze medalist Bryce Hoppel.

Look this a good test for Briana but let’s be honest here Shacarrie is faster before the weed incident of last season and since her come back she have ran some decent times although one was wind aided. Well let’s see what happens all the best ladies let’s finish injury free.
I don’t think Brianna is ready for her just yet.She is quickly hitting top form which I’m afraid is a little way out of Brianna’s reach.I hope I’m wrong though
Rodclifth Blackwood much as I like Brianna, but I’m constrained to agree with you here.
Non sense Sha Carri’s times were wind Aided. Brianna will defeat her, this is the perfect race for Brianna after her return to sub 11.
Junior Barrett She did a sub 11 last weekend easily… 10.91 secs
Junior Barrett Briana Williams will be handily beaten by Sha’carri Richardson. It won’t even be close!Koketso Maswena

Junior Barrett unfortunately people don’t understand the wind and just how much of an aide it was. Without the wind Sha’Carri’s times would have been over 11 seconds, which is pretty much what she has been running and a time that would be uncompetitive against any of the top female sprinters.
Uhmmm where did you kea how to calul her time wou have been 10.90 not over 11 sec 🤦🏾♀️
Where did you get your calculation from Her tiMe would Have BEEN 10.90 not over 11 seconds
I really love Brianna and I want her to win, but this look sticky. JS.
I know Brianna needs to get those race practice in but this race ìs all in an effort to build that other person’s confidence to say she won races with 2 Jamaicans. If I were Brianna, I’d let it pass. Let her get her confidence and knowing my running style elsewhere.
Calling this a showdown is simply laughable
Glad that Sha’Carri is running well and winning.
Briana is just coming back off a little injury and has bigger fish to fry right now … such as qualifying in the Jamaica Nationals trials for the worlds which is not only not certain but a mean feat if achieved given the strength of JA female sprinting at this moment
Yes Sha’carri also has nationals , from previous history and performances she is the top of the USA Rosta and expected to qualify …
No this isn’t a showdown it’s another hype fest .. used as click bait to drum up more USA v JA rivalry and animosity .
The next showdown will in the World Championships where whoever makes the finals had better bring their “A” game because to the Victor the Spoils.
This year , that’s where the bragging rights will be decided, nowhere else
I just wish them all the best. They are my athletes and excited to see them in this race. I will take the results positively with a calm mind.
