BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Mississippi State track and field program enter the postseason with seven Bulldogs in possession of top-20 times/marks in the country. The SEC Championships will take place Friday and Saturday at host school Texas A&M.

Ten different Bulldogs also sit in the top-five of MSU’s all-time indoor performances, with Broughton, Cooper and Poe each holding a spot in multiple events. Meanwhile both Bennett (shot put) and Peyton Mickelson (pole vault) each hold the new school records for their respective events.

Mississippi State looks to carry the success it found in the regular season, over into the postseason. Up first for the Bulldogs is the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships – the toughest meet yet for the Maroon and White.

A total of 18 Southeastern Conference men’s and women’s track and field programs are ranked in the top-25.

  • The nine top-25 men’s teams lead the nation for any conference. No other league has three.
  • The nine top-25 women’s teams also lead the nation for conferences. No other league has more than four, yet the SEC has four in the top-five alone.

Hear From Head Coach Chris Woods ahead of  SEC Championships:

“We’re in really good shape. We’ve had a lot of people reach PR’s already this season; we have to carry that energy, knowledge and experience that we’ve gained so far and bring it with us this weekend. Every time we go into a championship setting, it’s all about scoring points at the meet. If we go into this weekend relaxed and having fun, then we’re going to have a successful weekend.”
