Several Jamaicans failed to get a chance to compete as bad weather on the Prairie View A&M University campus brought a premature end to the USATF Invitational on Tuesday (25 May).
Due to rain and lightning, the men’s pole vault was relocated to MAC Vault Academy in nearby Navasota. Chris Nilsen had a first-attempt clearance at 5.90m for the win. He made three tries at joining the six-meter club.
Chris Carter the triple 16.95m (+0.9), and Rachel McCoy cleared a good 1.96m PB to beat Antigua and Barbuda’s Priscilla Frederick-Loomis, 1.85m, in the high jump.
Ese Brume of Nigeria won the women’s long jump with 6.61.
Nigeria won both 4x100m relays in 39.56 and 43.06.
Ese Brume had one valid jump of 6.61m, after which the meet was stopped.
The remainder of the meet has been cancelled due to weather.
