Brazier sets world lead in first 800m of the season

Donavan Brazier wins the men's 800m in a new American record 1:44.22 at the 113th NYRR Millrose Games at The Armory

In his first outdoor 800m race since winning the world title, Donavan Brazier registered the fastest time in the world this year.

Brazier clocked a world lead of 1:43.84, winning by nearly six seconds. Drew Windle was the second-place finisher in 1:49.64s.

Also setting a world-leading mark but in a tighter race at Big Friendly 3 meet was Briton Josh Kerr, whose 3:34.53 put him a more than a second ahead of Canadian William Paulson (3:35.59) and Craig Engels 3:36.01.

Japan’s Suguru Osako narrowly won the 3000m in 7:54.49 from Garrett Heath (7:54.79).

Chanelle Price won the women’s 800m in 2:01.71 with Nia Atkins second in 2:02.07.

The 1500m went to Shannon Rowbury in 4:03.62, while Mel Lawrence (9:04.78) won the 3000m.
