World Athletics president Seb Coe said his association is working to reconfigure the 2020 global athletics calendar.

The coronavirus, which has killed over 118,683 worldwide, caused many events to be postponed or cancelled in the last three months.

He told Track and Field News: “At this very moment, my chief executive and our competition teams sit pretty regularly with the Diamond League board and the directors.

“I chair the Diamond League board. So at the moment, if you will forgive me, we are trying to figure out what the Diamond League, if we can resurrect any of it, looks like towards the end of the year.”

He said he couldn’t rule out the idea of staging Diamond League meetings without spectators later this year but that it would be last resort.
