DOHA, Qatar – Kyron McMaster is back in the final of the men’s 400m hurdles here at the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019.
McMaster was disqualified under Rule163.7 (hurdle not cleared) in the event semi-finals on Saturday evening (28 Sept).
However, an appeal was filed by the British Virgin Islands (IVB) Team following the Referee decision to disqualify their athlete.
“The Team claimed their athlete had cleared the hurdle, and though he had hit the hurdle, it was not a deliberate action,” said the organizers’ release.
“Team IVB, therefore, request that Kyron McMaster be reinstated into the final.
“The Jury of Appeal met and, after examining the video of the race, concluded that Kyron McMaster was not in breach of Rule 168.7.
“The appeal was upheld, and Kyron McMaster was reinstated,” concluded the release.
McMaster ran 48.40 for third place in semi-final 1/3 on Saturday evening. He will contest Monday’s final.
