Former World 100m hurdles champion Danielle Williams is set to compete at the Doha 2019 World Championships (Sept 27 to October 6) in Qatar.
The JAAA, in a statement a short while ago (Thursday, 15 Aug), said: “Following international expert advice and a review of the selection policy, the association said that the fairest way to proceed is for the JAAA to make its selection decision on the multiple criteria listed in the published policy, although the specific case is not covered.”
Williams was disqualified from the women’s 100m hurdles final at Jamaica Trials and ruled ineligible by the JAAA.
In June the JAAA release said: “The athletes to represent Jamaica in the 100-metre hurdles for Women at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar will be selected based on the IAAF Ranking as of August 16, 2019.”
Williams is the highest-ranked Jamaica as of today (15 Aug) and holds the world-leading time of 12.32, which is also a Jamaican record. Janeek Brown and Megan Tapper are the next best-ranked Jamaicans.
FULL JAAA RELEASE:
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) today announced that sprint hurdler and former World Champion Danielle Williams, has been deemed eligible for selection to the Jamaica Team to the 2019 World Championships to be held in Doha, Qatar, next month.
The JAAA, in a statement a short while ago, said “following international expert advice and a review of the selection policy, the association said that the fairest way to proceed is for the JAAA to make its selection decision on the multiple criteria listed in the published policy, although the specific case is not covered.”
The JAAA also said the sprint hurdles race at the National Championship, had been ruled null and void and Ms Williams’ disqualification could, therefore, not stand given that the race was never completed and has been declared null and void
The JAAA also announced its decision to make the relevant selection on September 6, 2019, which is the closing date for the entries to the World Championships.
The Association said its main consideration was fairness to all athletes and compliance with the JAAA and IAAF rules.
Wish you all the best Danielle

Congratulations Danielle every tounge that rise up against you is condemned. You are more than conqueror through christ which loves you. Go for your goal.
In other words, they bowed to pressure, both local and foreign. All the best, Danielle!
Either she would have been on that team to Doha. The international body for athlete said if she won the diamond league they would give her a pass to be in Doha so oh well
Interesting what happens when Minister Grange steps in and quiet some people….
continues to sip on my Jablum…
Oh boohoo. Trials are a big thing. If your runner false starts/fails to place at the trials, what’s he/she going to do when it REALLY matters?
John McLaren STFU you are not Jamaican your opinion doesn’t count
Are you scared she will leave your runners in the dust???
John McLaren maybe you should STFU……she did not false start and it was unfair to her to begin with
Three years ago, Keni Harrison came in 4th at the US trials, so failed to make the Olympic team, broke the world record a month later…but still no trip to Rio. In some countries, the national trials actually mean something.
Only the good salvation last forever……from champs they been having faulty starts, we should not have to wait this long to know she afi run a Doha
