Jamaica missed a medal opportunity in the final of the mixed shuttle hurdles relay final at the IAAF World Relays in Yokohama, Japan.
According to reports, Andrew Riley suffered a hamstring injury, and Norman Pittersgill injured himself during warm-up, which left Jamaica without a full team for the final.
Earlier, the team of Amoi Brown, Riley, Megan Tapper and Roland Levy, qualified for the final by winning their heat in 55.47secs.
The United States of America won both finals contested on Saturday’s opening day, 54.96secs to take the shuttle hurdles, and 3:36.92 to top the mixed 2x2x400m.
Jamaica women’s 4x400m team of Christine Day, Shiann Salmon, Tiffany James and Chrisann Gordon, ran 3:28.80 to finish second in their heat.
Canada won the heat in 3:28.75, but the USA, winner of heat 2, will go into the final with the fastest time of 3:25.72.
The Green, Black and Gold men’s team, led off by Demise Gaye to Akeem Bloomfield, Javon Francis and Nathon Allen, finished second behind USA 3:02.67 to 3:02.06 in the mile relay heats.
Trinidad and Tobago, 3:02.49secs, took the top spot in their heat. Deon Lendore, Jerome Richards, Asa Guevara and Machel Cedenio were the members of the team.
In the women’s 4x100m heats, Jamaica secured their final spot in 43.08secs. The team of Sharon Simpson, Natasha Morrison, Shashalee Forbes and Jonielle Smith finished behind Germany, 43.03 in heat 3.
Nesta Carter, Julian Forte, Rasheed Dwyer and Tyquendo Tracey, 38.81secs, squeezed into the men’s 4x100m final.
Jamaica’s mixed 4x400m relay team also squeezed into the final with 3:18.47. The quartet of Fitzroy Dunkley, Janieve Russell, Ronda Whyte and Jamari Rose, finished third behind Belgium 3:18.03 and Brazil 3:18.26 in heat 1/2.
